First time for everything…
Going into my 11th year teaching, I have realized more and more that being in education requires constant learning, adapting and progressing. I pride myself in trying new approaches to my lessons, assessment and classroom approaches. Taking risks is part of learning. To model that to our students, the risk taking, the progress, the failures, is just as essential to teaching as knowledge of content and building rapport with students.
I tend to keep my ideas more close to the vest. This blog is my attempt at trying something I never thought I would do, and to push myself in an area I am not overtly comfortable with. To share. To grow. To learn.
I teach high school Social Studies. Specifically I teach AP Psychology and will take on Government for the 21–22 school year. I have taught World History, US History, American Society (block class with English), and World Geography. I am also the 504 Coordinator at our high school. Academically speaking, I have a Masters in History and a Masters in Psychology.
I love what I do, and I’m looking forward to utilizing this space for sharing my experiences and learning from others.
Outside of my career, I have two young daughters and a wonderful husband (no he didn’t pay me to say that). Clare just turned 5, and Fiona is about to turn 2. They keep me extra busy and on my toes.
To new adventures,
Kelly
